L. Linkevičius: Mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia must be main objective of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue
On 27 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla to discuss bilateral relations. The interlocutors agreed to cooperate in the fields of strategic communication, European integration, as well as in the implementation of EU Twinning and TAIEX projects.
The Foreign Minister L. Linkevičius voiced strong support for Kosovo’s independence and membership of international organizations, aspirations of integration within the framework of the Union, and the abolition of the visa regime for Kosovo.
The interlocutors also discussed prospects for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia following the resumption of the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels, and the possibility of achieving a legally binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
“The agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, with mutual recognition at its core, must be the most important objective of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue,” said L. Linkevičius.
The Foreign Ministers had a telephone conversation on the initiative of Kosovo. This is the first conversation between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Kosovo after the formation of the new Government in Kosovo on 3 June 2020.
