We, the Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia, the  Republic of Lithuania, Hungary, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Italian Republic, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of Poland and the Slovak Republic reiterate our continued support for the Western Balkans on their European path. The EU enlargement process has a positive transformative power in the Western Balkans and is an investment in peace and stability in Europe. It is essential to ensure the overall progress of the region. The EU needs to fulfil its unambiguous commitment to the Western Balkans European integration. There is no “plan B”.

On 24 May, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) received a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius the and the Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas about unresolved nuclear safety issues of the Ostrovets nuclear power plant project.

On 27 March, the Vilnius Regional Court issued a ruling on the 13 January case. 67 individuals were found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity for their involvement in the Soviet aggression on 13 January 1991 in Vilnius.

Lithuania strongly supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. We condemn the ongoing military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine that flagrantly violates international law, the Charter of the United Nations, the provisions of the Helsinki Final Act, and bilateral agreements between Ukraine and Russia. We will continue to support Ukraine and coherently implement the policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation and occupation of Crimea five years ago.

Lithuania welcomes the ratification by Greece's parliament of the historic agreement between Greece and Macedonia that changes the name of Macedonia. The country will now be called the Republic of Northern Macedonia. This sets an example of reconciliation between different nations and will bring a decades-old dispute close to an end.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly condemns actions undertaken by the Russian Federation on 25 November against Ukrainian navy vessels, which resulted in a physical blockade of the Azov Sea and the ramming of Ukrainian boats. In addition, the Russian coast guard vessels opened fire, injured Ukrainian sailors, and illegally seized Ukrainian navy vessels.
