Where foreign nationals, including the Chinese citizens, residing in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia and Myanmar, could apply for Schengen visa to Lithuania?
Since Embassy of Lithuania in China is operating remotely and there is no Lithuanian visa authority in Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia and Myanmar, residents of China, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia and Myanmar have a right to apply for Schengen visa at any Lithuanian visa authority abroad. We recommend contacting the visa authority of your choice well in advance in order to make sure the application could be received and processed in time.
Please be informed that the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the People’s Republic of China is currently operating remotely from Vilnius on a limited basis only and does not provide consular services. In case Lithuanian passport is expired or lost, Lithuanian citizens may apply for an Emergency Travel Document at any diplomatic mission of an EU Member State located in China. The EU Member States in China do not have any real practical possibilities to provide consular assistance for Lithuanian citizens that requires cooperation with the Chinese authorities. For any other consular services we recommend contacting the diplomatic or consular representation of Lithuania in other countries.
Please also note that currently the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the People’s Republic of China does not accept applications for Schengen visas. Chinese citizens who are family members (spouses, minor children) of the citizens of the European Union for the immediate need to travel to Lithuania for up to 90 days are kindly asked to fill in the inquiry e-form. After examining the inquiry, we will contact you via e-mail. In other cases, citizens of the People’s Republic of China can submit their applications for a Schengen visa to any Lithuanian visa authority abroad.
After the changes in the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners came into effect on 1 July, Lithuanian consulates abroad cease to process applications for issuance of national visas. Applications for national visa as well as applications for temporary resident permit hereafter by the foreigners, who are not in Lithuania, can be submitted only through the external service provider chosen by the Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior. Additional information on the website of the Migration department.
