LITHUANIAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA WILL TOUR CHINA IN OCTOBER 2013

We are please to announce the China Tour of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra is recognised as one of the finest and most internationally acclaimed of Lithuania’s orchestras. Formed in 1960, the group has toured to almost every European country and to North and South America, Japan, Egypt and the Republic of South Africa. In addition to having released more than 100 recordings and having given numerous world premieres, the ensemble has performed in the world’s most prestigious venues, appearing frequently with Mstislav Rostropovitch, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, Vladimir Spivakov, Tatyana Grindenko, Igor Oistrakh, Yevgeny Kissin, David Geringas and Yehudi Menuhin, among many other renowned artists. This 2013 tour marks the Orchestra’s debut in China and celebrates Lithuania’s 2013 Presidency of the Council of the European Union. One of the most versatile musicians of our time, the world-renowned cellist and conductor David Geringas studied under Mstislav Rostropovich and has played all over the world with the most important orchestras and the greatest conductors of our era. In 1970 he was a recipient of the Gold Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. This Tour is made possible through funding from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
