LITHUANIAN EMBASSY WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CHARITY FAIR “LOVE KNOWS NO BORDERS”

Lithuanian Embassy in Beijing will participate in the fifth international charity fair “Love Knows No Borders” hosted by Madame Qian Wei, wife of the Foreign Affairs Minister of China H.E. Wang Yi. This outstanding charity event aims to promote the virtue of extending a helping hand to those in need and improve the lives of the poor and disadvantaged groups in China.

The charity sale was initiated in 2009. The first event, themed providing financial aid for children’s education in poor areas in Yunnan Province, raised 1.8 million RMB. The 2012 charity sale, themed providing financial aid for the Lifeline Express Bright Journey, raised almost 5 mln. RMB, out of which 3 mln. RMB were spent on providing eye surgeries for 1500 cataract patients in poor areas of Xinxiang, Henan Province, and about 2 mln. RMB were spent on disaster relief in Yunnan Province. Donations raised this year will be used to build a water cellar for the poor mountainous areas in Jinping and Malipo counties of Yunnan Province.
