Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister meets with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar
On 13 October in Bangkok, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar Kyaw Tin and noted that the bilateral diplomatic cooperation was expanding – Lithuania’s Ambassador to China Ina Marčiulionytė was soon to be accredited to Myanmar.
Germanas and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar underlined the need to hold official visits to further advance our bilateral diplomatic relations.
The interlocutors also discussed bilateral trade. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister said that cooperation between the two countries in this area so far had been minimal and had a lot of untapped potential. Germanas informed his counterpart about Lithuania’s potential in the field of smart technology, renewable energy, life sciences, and other areas.
Kyaw Tin assured the Foreign Vice-Minister that Lithuania was well known in Myanmar for its achievements in the field of smart technology and highlighted the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in the installation of the e-government system.
This is the first official bilateral meeting after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Myanmar in 2013.
Germanas is visiting Thailand on 12-14 October, where he is participating in the 21st ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting.
