MINISTER OF DEFENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA VISITS CHINA

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania Mrs. Rasa JUKNEVIČIENĖ will be on the official visit to the People's Republic of China on March 27-30, 2012. The Minister will meet the Member of CMC, State Councilor and Minister of National Defence of the People's Republic of China Gen. Liang Guanglie and sign the bilateral agreement concerning the cooperation in the field of defence. The agreement will establish the framework and the areas of the cooperation in defence matters between the two countries. The cooperation between the parties will include the participation in the peacekeeping operations, education and training in the army training centers. During the meetings in China the Minister will discuss the most important regional security issues, the perspectives of the bilateral cooperation, exchange the opinions concerning the parties' participation in the international operations. The possibilities of enhancing the NATO and EU dialogue with China will also be included into the topics discussed during the meetings. The Minister will also meet the Vice Chairman of CMC Gen.
